Bug Music for Nuts
So, you'd like to hear more?
Each mp3 file linked on this page is approximately 7-8 MB in size and 7-10 minutes in length.
Please note that the files here very similar to one another, so don't expect a lot of variety, but strung together in a sequence, each set will give you an uninterrupted recording of over an hour. On repeat (loop) mode, it's almost like sitting out on the porch. (Yeah, it's a bit nuts. Try it.)
If these files are too big and too boring for you, check out the shorter versions here.
Southeastern Pennsylvania: An August Evening. These files are from a recording made from about 9:30 p.m. to 10:30 pm on Sunday, August 12, 2006. You'll hear katydids calling and responding like a Greek chorus against a backdrop of crickets.
Arlington, Virginia: Early August Morning. These are excerpts from a recording made from about 12:30 a.m. till 1:30 a.m. on the morning of Tuesday, August 29, 2006. You'll hear crickets and, in the background, late-night suburban noise from a nearby road.
